Feeding South Florida Press Release

Fisher Island Gives is very proud to share with you the following press release from Feeding South Florida. This $1 million contribution allows thousands of Miami residents to have access to food by providing refrigerated trucks for collection and distribution of food, meals for school children and their families and sponsored Saturday distribution of weekly groceries for thousands of residents.

Our Mission

Fisher Island is a unique and powerful community made up of a variety of nationalities, interests and personal causes. Our ability to come together as a united community is one of our greatest assets, and now is the time to do so. By working together, we have the opportunity to dramatically help people in the greater Miami area whose lives have been devastated by the COVID-19 virus.

To meet their needs, an initial core group of residents conceived the idea of Fisher Island Gives, an emergency response campaign which will focus on helping our less fortunate neighbors with their food and shelter needs. We have identified two local charities – Lotus House and Feeding South Florida – that are in desperate need of funds now.

This group has personally pledged to match the first $1 million of donations and to pay all campaign administrative costs, which means every dollar donated is 100% tax deductible and 100% will be received by the charities. Just by word of mouth, Fisher Island Gives has already grown into the most extraordinary campaign and has shown the compassion and generosity of your Fisher Island neighbors. We are hoping you will add your name to the ever-growing list below and donate generously.

Our neighbors just minutes away need our help -- and they need it now. The need is urgent, and therefore our goal is to get funds to them within the next week.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and support

– after all, we are all in this together!
